Mississippi University for Women
Mississippi University for Women, also referred to as The W, was
established in 1884. This tradition-rich college is famous for
being the first state-supported institution dedicated to the
purpose of educating the women of its time, but it has also been
educating men since 1982.

The private-style education offered by The W is highlighted by
the fact that it is located in the heart of Columbus' historic
downtown. The campus itself is also home to more than 20 buildings
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
MUW offers four colleges consisting of more than 50 majors and
concentrations. They are unparalleled in their success at offering
