(Wade Leonard) The Columbus Convention
and Visitor's Bureau has been recognized as the best CVB in the
state by the Mississippi Tourism Association.
"We're just so excited to be recognized with all the
other wonderful convention and visitor's bureaus in Mississippi,"
said CVB President James Tsismanakis. "To receive the CVB award for
the top tier in 2009 is a real honor."
The award was handed out Tuesday in Hattiesburg
during the Mississippi Governor's Conference. The Columbus CVB won
the award for the state's best CVB with a budget of $750,000 or
more.
Last year's recipient of the award was the Tunica
Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
The award follows on the heels of Columbus' receiving
a nod from the National Trust for Historic Preservation when they
named Columbus one of the national Dozen Distinctive Destinations
of 2008.
"It's always great when you can claim the Dozen
Distinctive Destinations Award in 2008 and CVB of the Year in
2009," said Tsismanakis.
